Diverse Books

Part of the reason why children and teens don’t read is because they don’t see themselves represented in books.

According to the Kids and Family Reading Report, 90% of children ages 6-17 agreed that their favorite books are the ones that they’ve picked out themselves, and across all ages, the more frequent readers have more robust libraries.

Texas has continuously targeted books that focus on topics like LGBTQIA+ and protagonists of color, and students have stated that more success stories are needed that support people of different cultures, backgrounds, and ethnicities.

The truth is, diverse books are needed, and stereotypes are not. That’s why Girls for Books has a mission to provide our readers with diverse books written by all authors.
