Impact

Partnering with Girls for Books has been an extremely rewarding experience, as I have gotten to see how much our actions can impact young girls in our community. I went to a fair at the SABF this year, and I got to meet so many little girls who are reading books that I had loved at that age. When they saw how passionate we were, they looked so excited to meet girls like them, and I got to make great connections with them throughout that day. Getting to be part of Girls for Books has made me so grateful to get to encourage young women in my community.

I appreciated the opportunity to receive free books for my classroom. As a Reading Language Arts teacher at Somerset ISD, I know that providing students with access to books is an important part of fostering a love of reading, and I admire the organization’s commitment to that mission. I was excited by the opportunity to use the books as part of a classroom book club and appreciate the support Girls for Books provides to educators. I would recommend partnering with Girls for Books because they are passionate about promoting literacy and helping connect books with students and schools.

I would recommend partnering with girls for books to others because of the community and great opportunities! I love helping my community and through this project I have had many opportunities to do so! Additionally, I’ve made many long lasting friends with similar interests and goals!

Working with Girls for Books has empowered me because it has created a community of people who I know care deeply about reading. In the process of running my own book club sponsored by Girls for Books I felt the perfect balance of autonomy and support as well as enthusiasm from the organization that I wanted to continue their mission in Virginia. This is an organization run by girls and for girls of all ages that I would recommend for anyone who wants to read as well as create community.
