“…Next time you’re faced with a choice, do the right thing. It hurts everyone less in the long run.”
Flipped is a young adult contemporary romance by Wendalin Van Draanen. The book was actually adapted into a movie and it’s one of my favorites! However, after watching the movie for the thousandth time I realized I never read the book, so I ordered it and made sure to read it immediately!
Synopsis:
Dual point of view book that follows young middle schoolers Julie Baker and Bryce Loski. The moment Julie saw Bryce when he moved into town in Elementary she flipped, she knew her heart will belong to him forever. Bryce, however, had a less than pleasant first experience with Julie Baker until something happens. What happens when these two young teens’ ideas, thoughts, feelings flip completely?
Review:
Due to already watching the movie and loving it I had very high expectations for the book and they were absolutely exceeded! There are so many amazing quotes in this book and meaningful lessons! This book’s targeted audience is middle schoolers, but it’s definitely still enjoyable for an older audience as I read this book last year in the summer during my junior year of high school. I think Wendalin did an amazing job making Julie a quirky yet very likable character which admittedly can be a very difficult thing to do! Overall, this book is absolutely amazing.
I would rate this book: 📚 📚 📚 📚 📚 – the writing is so soft and it’s definitely one of my comfort books that I can re-read over and over again! (5/5)
