Reading is one of the best things in our lives. As lifelong voracious readers, we love how a book can immerse you in an entirely new world — and how it can open your eyes to new ideas and perspectives about the world around you.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we channeled that passion into a book blog called Bookwanderers, a space to connect with like-minded book lovers. At the end of 2021, we launched an Instagram account to grow our community — but we always dreamed of turning it into something bigger.

In March 2024, that dream took shape when we won the statewide Speak Up Speak Out civic action competition. Building on that momentum, we transformed Girls for Books into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to share the power of reading with the world.

Through this organization, we hope to do more than celebrate our own love of books — we want to empower others to discover it too. We want to spark more conversations about reading and help others feel, and share, the magic of books.
