Girls For Books started with two ten-year-olds and a blog.
We’re Neerja and Nidhi Bathla — high school students in San Antonio, Texas — and growing up we couldn’t stop talking about the books we loved. So we started writing about them. That blog has grown into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with ambassadors in schools across the country: girls who share our conviction that reading belongs to everyone.
We work alongside community partners like the YMCA, Girls Inc., Girl Scouts, and our local schools, libraries, and bookstores. We review the books we love, put them into the hands of kids who need them, and work to reignite a passion for reading in the girls around us.
